IBPRO Symposium

ABOUT IBPRO

A SHORT HISTORY:

While industrial and academic ideas on where the field of Biocatalysis is going and what is relevant can often differ, these differences are frequently not revealed early in the research process, and thus scientific efforts are wasted due to industrial irrelevance. Causes can be missing are scalability, too expensive processes, or mismatch from an economic standpoint.

Having these challenges in mind, several academic and industrial researchers have organized a symposium as a joint discussion platform in the field of biocatalysis to increase the impact of research in the field, boosting the future implementation of investigation into industrial processes. Particular emphasis was given to the interphase between academic research – focusing on the “what” and” why” –, and industrial work, with a sharper vision on the “so what” and “how”.

On that basis, the concept of IBPRO was born. This exchange forum with a high industrial attendance, and a focus on young researchers gave great networking possibilities.

The first version, the IBPRO2022, was initiated by H2020-MSCA-ITN-EID Project INTERfaces (Grant No: 860414) (Prof. Dr. Selin Kara from Aarhus University as the Coordinator), co-organized by Bielefeld University and held at the Centrum for Interdisciplinary Research (CeBiTec) located in the local campus.
